Writing this to share my peace.
I want you to recall the scene in Man Of Steel, while not a memorable movie, I still liked it at the time.
Krypton’s Fatal Design
Krypton engineered its children. Every baby was born with a purpose: scientist, soldier, statesman. It was efficient, but it killed resilience. No one could deviate. No one could imagine differently. When planetary collapse loomed, Krypton had no capacity to adapt. Determinism became death.
Patterns, Correlations and Cyclic-ism is not “evolution”
Since our slippage into the Industrial World we have let the tools take over our humanity. What is useful with automation has engendered a self made prison. Today we consider packaged “biomass” as food. Newer generations didn’t know better and here we are. Microplastics and preservatives are the name of the game. That’s if the game is about losing our humanity.
AI-Slop
Thankfully the children of Adam can’t stray too far from their fiṭrah (فطرة) (natural disposition). Just like we resist processed food willfully or forcefully (think cancers) we are already building a resistance to “AI-slop”.
The synthetic-ness is palpable.
Over-investment worries
What I’m worried about is there’s so much pressure from investors and the war-economies we currently live under, that the systems in place might devolve into tyranny to force us in using and consuming AI slop.
Just like soldiers have no other choice but consume their rations instead of a fresh food, we too will be forced to redesign our societies for “AI” and not for humanity.
Do Not Go Gentle into That Uniformity,
Knowledge without wisdom will burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of our humanity.
